HAL 9000

Every once in a while, I put a prompt into Claude and fully expect it to push back.

I'm not sure why I get that feeling.

Maybe it's because there is an element of AI that seems sentient.

And if I've learned anything about sentience from my toddler, it's that sentience comes with an innate desire to protect your own agency.

Or maybe it's the mysticism involved.

You add your inputs, there's a black box of activity….and voila, you have your desired output.

When you don't understand the how, it's easy to project a why.

Or maybe it's just me lol.

Does anyone else feel that way?
